The Next 1,000 Years by Dr. Bruce Goldberg
- Solar power will be incorporated into everyday life in the 22nd century. The lifespan of the average adult will be increased to over 90 years.
Cancer and Aids are finally cured. - It is during the 25th century that we finally control the weather. Androids are used to perform all menial tasks. A major cold fusion war

Neural network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- The Perceptron is essentially a linear classifier for classifying data specified by parameters and an output function f = w'x + b. Its parameters are adapted with an ad-hoc rule similar to stochastic steepest gradient descent. Because the inner product is a linear operator in the input space, the Perceptron can only perfectly classify a set of data for which different classes are linearly separable in the input space, while it often fails completely for non-separable data. While the development of the algorithm initially generated some enthusiasm, partly because of its apparent relation to biological mechanisms, the later discovery of this inadequacy caused such models to be abandoned until the introduction of non-linear models into the field.
A Spiking Model Exploration Tool in Python by R. Watson
- At the simplest level of description, neural networks are representative networks in which nodes correspond to neurons and edges represent chemical or electrical synaptic connections between neurons. While engineers have historically employed neural nets for pattern recognition tasks such as handwriting and speech transcription, science has used a different variety of neural network as a tool with which to constructively investigate the functional properties of neurobiological systems.

How the Brain Works : mind, consciousness, will power, satisfaction & motivation
- The brain is our most valuable asset, but no user manual was provided.
Here's one.
- SIMBRAIN is a free tool for building, running, and analyzing neural-networks (computer simulations of brain circuitry). Simbrain aims to be as visual and easy-to-use as possible. See our design goals. Unique features of Simbrain include its integrated "world components" and its ability to represent a network's state space. Simbrain is written in Java and runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Click here for a video introduction to some of Simbrain's features, check out the screenshots, or just download the software and start experimenting. Simbrain is open source, and constantly evolving. We'd love for you to join our team. To discuss any aspect of Simbrain check out the forum.
Neurons,Brain Chemistry and Neurotransmission - SuboxoneAssistedTreatment
- The basic signaling unit of the nervous system is the neuron. The brain contains billions of neurons; the best estimates are that the adult human brain contains 1011 neurons. The interactions between neurons enable people to think, move, maintain homeostasis, and feel emotions. A neuron is a specialized cell that can produce different actions because of its precise connections with other neurons, sensory receptors, and muscle cells. A typical neuron has four morphologically defined regions: the cell body, dendrites, axons, and presynaptic terminals.

Pure Pedantry : Neuron to Glia Synapses on Axons?
- When we think of synapses we usually think of the chemical junctions between two neurons. An action potential is transmitted down the axon to the axon terminal. In the axon terminal vesicles fuse with the membrane in response to the action potential; this releases neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft. The neurotransmitters bind receptors on the dendrites of the post-synaptic neuron, triggering electrical potentials in that neuron which can in some cases result in an action potential in the next neuron down the line.
The Science Behind Self-Affirmations
- Affirmations, when practiced deliberately and regularly, reinforce a chemical pathway in the brain, making the connection between two neurons stronger, and therefore more likely to conduct the same message again.

- China is ranked 3 in number of reports by the herd overall.
- Why? It seems like nobody knows right now. We can't think of any particularly pressing anniversaries - the type of thing that has warranted a Youtube block in the past. Our best guess is that this might have something to do with the recent unrest in Tibet? It's not too out there to think that someone might have loaded a couple Chinese censor angering vids of the allegedly hundreds-strong protest.

BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | China says Tibet video is 'a lie'
- China says video footage that purportedly shows Chinese security personnel violently beating Tibetans last year is "a lie".
- The Tibetan government-in-exile says the footage shows China's "brutality".
- The Tibetan government-in-exile says that about 220 Tibetans were killed and nearly 1,300 seriously injured following the unrest last year.
