- 新疆自治区主席白克力星期一凌晨在电视上发表讲话，指骚乱由旅居美国的新疆女商人热比娅煽动：“这是一起典型的，境外指挥，境内行动，有预谋，有组织的打砸抢事件。7月5日，热比亚同国内通电话，进行煽动，下午19时许，乌鲁木齐发生了不法分子，上街游行，集会示威事件，在个别地方发生了打砸抢烧事件”。
- 他强调，这次事件完全是因为政府对不久前发生在广东韶关旭日玩具厂涉及维吾尔人被打死及打伤事件处理不当。在武警镇压之前，已有近一万人举行示威游行：“我们请求国际社会能够介入就有关中国解放军用冲锋枪在市区内扫射，导致大量伤亡，继续调查”。
- 虽然政府及时控制了局面，但是恐惧感已经留在普通人的心中。而那些被极端分子棍棒生生打死的市民，在棍棒落下的那一刹那，在甚至在昨天的中午，在前天，何尝想到过自己会遭此厄运？
